Overview

Athens Bible School Trobotics fosters interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) from a Biblical perspective. Students participate in real-life engineering business scenarios, including product development, production, and marketing. They work as a team to solve the year’s competition challenge with a robot design and construction. Students serve as the primary participants, decision-makers, and builders with guidance from mentors. Mentors from various professional fields and expertise teach team members real-world engineering techniques and business concepts. Trobotics began in 2006 with six boys. In 2023, the team has grown to 20 boys and 12 girls.

Traditional open surgery involves large incisions and manual procedures, leading to longer recovery times and increased pain. Robotic-assisted surgeries are possible for minimally invasive procedures performed quickly.

Requirements

Our customer wants to improve proficiency and quality in medical care by advancing technology and innovation through robotics. To accomplish this, our customer wants a robot that extends a surgeon’s abilities to perform multiple surgeries faster, safer, and more efficiently.

Meet Dr. OPI, a state-of-the-art surgical robot designed to empower surgeons. It offers precision and innovation, facilitating faster, safer, and less invasive procedures. Dr. OPI’s design meets all requirements, featuring a fixed tool for vein harvesting and a standard interface for efficient tool changes. It sets itself apart with speed, efficiency, and precision. Dr. OPI promises to enhance medical care by enabling surgeons to perform multiple less invasive surgeries quickly and effectively.

Solution 

To solve these problems with a surgical robot, we designed Dr. OPI with a customized add-on multifunctional surgical tool and a fixed tool for specialized procedures. These tools, coupled with a variable speed function, give Dr. OPI the ability to meet all of your surgical needs, moving quickly between surgeries and slowly for consistent and precise procedures.
